Senior Mainframe Hardware Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Dearborn, MI (Hybrid – Travel requirements)
W2 CONTRACT ONLY
Position Summary
Seeking a Senior Mainframe Hardware Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support IBM zSeries mainframe hardware environments and enterprise infrastructure. This role focuses on hardware configuration, FICON networking, capacity planning, performance optimization, disaster recovery, and data center operations supporting mission-critical business systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain IBM zSeries environments using HCM, HCD, CMT, and IOGEN.
- Design and support mainframe hardware, storage, FICON, and Cisco ACI network connectivity.
- Plan and coordinate hardware installations, de-installations, upgrades, and microcode updates.
- Monitor hardware health, diagnose failures, and provide corrective actions for production environments.
- Lead capacity planning, performance analysis, and infrastructure optimization initiatives.
- Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and data center consolidation efforts.
- Coordinate with Network, Storage, Operations, Facilities, and vendor teams.
- Participate in 24×7 on-call support and maintenance activities.
- Lead cross-functional infrastructure projects and technical initiatives.

Required Experience
- 10+ years of IT infrastructure experience.
- 8+ years supporting enterprise infrastructure or mainframe environments.
- Experience with IBM mainframe hardware configuration and support.
- Experience leading infrastructure projects and working across technical teams.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language or practical experience with multiple scripting/coding languages.
