Senior Programmer
Location: Cerritos, CA
Work Arrangement: Onsite Monday through Friday initially, with the potential to gradually transition to up to 2 telework days per week based on project requirements.
Contract Duration: 1-year, possible extension, W2
Pay: $53.00/hr
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Programmer to support the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of complex enterprise applications and mainframe systems.
This position requires extensive hands-on experience with IMS, DB2, COBOL, and CICS, along with a strong background in electronic data processing systems and technical leadership. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across the full software development lifecycle while providing technical direction on complex systems and application initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, modify, test, implement, and support complex applications and systems.
- Analyze and refine business and system requirements.
- Translate requirements into application designs and technical solutions.
- Write, debug, maintain, and optimize application code.
- Design application and systems architecture.
- Develop and maintain user interfaces and application functionality.
- Integrate software, hardware, database, and system components.
- Work with customers and stakeholders to test and validate applications.
- Troubleshoot application and system issues and support production environments.
- Monitor and optimize system performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Maintain technical and program documentation.
- Evaluate new technologies and their impact on existing environments.
- Apply information security principles and practices throughout application development and system support.
- Provide technical leadership and collaborate effectively with technical and business teams.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in electronic data processing systems study, design, and programming.
- 4+ years of experience in a lead capacity.
- 7+ years of experience with IMS, DB2, COBOL, and CICS programming in a mainframe environment.
- Strong experience with enterprise application design, development, testing, implementation, and support.
- Knowledge of database management, including data structures, data modeling, data warehousing, and transaction processing.
- Understanding of systems engineering concepts, including scalability, reliability, maintainability, supportability, and performance optimization.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with technical teams, business stakeholders, and customers.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
