Summary Our client is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and evaluation of software and distributed systems. This role will focus on C++ development, backend systems, scalability, database technologies, and infrastructure components that support complex computing environments.

This position is ideal for an engineer with strong experience in C++, asynchronous programming, distributed systems, and backend architecture. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical challenges, building scalable systems, troubleshooting production issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities Software Design, Development & Engineering

  • Research, design, develop, test, and evaluate software and systems that support complex computing environments

  • Apply computer science and mathematical analysis principles to software engineering initiatives

  • Support the full software development lifecycle from requirements gathering and functional specification authoring through development, testing, and delivery

Distributed Systems & Backend Infrastructure

  • Develop and support distributed systems and backend software components

  • Design solutions that support system scalability, horizontal scaling, and distributed computing requirements

  • Work with backend systems and infrastructure settings to support performance and reliability objectives

Database Systems & Information Management

  • Review and approve modifications to existing databases and database management systems

  • Support logical and physical database design activities and database management initiatives

  • Direct database development efforts and review project scope and limitations

System Security, Implementation & Operations

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard information and computer files

  • Approve, schedule, plan, and supervise installation and testing activities for new products and system improvements

  • Develop standards and guidelines governing software usage and information protection

Project Planning & Technical Leadership

  • Review project requests and database user requirements to estimate project timelines and effort

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring support to engineering team members

  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement system changes to resolve problems

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field required

  • Experience developing software using C++

  • Experience working with distributed systems and backend technologies

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in C++ development

  • Experience with asynchronous programming and pointers

  • Strong understanding of distributed systems

  • Experience supporting backend systems and scalability initiatives

  • Knowledge of horizontal scaling concepts

  • Understanding of hypervisor settings

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

  • Expert knowledge of the software development lifecycle

  • Expert troubleshooting and system issue resolution capabilities

  • Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and development technologies

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with natural language processing

  • Previous experience supporting similar large-scale technology environments

  • Experience working on systems similar to large-scale distributed computing platforms
