Supplier Development Engineer 3 | Mossville, IL | 12-Month Contract

We are seeking an experienced Supplier Development Engineer to support supplier quality, manufacturing excellence, and supplier performance improvement initiatives within a leading global manufacturing environment.

Location: Mossville, IL (Onsite)
Duration: 12 Months
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Start Date: October 2026
Pay: $43 – $50/hr

What You’ll Do

  • Improve supplier performance by identifying capability gaps and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure quality of incoming supplies through supplier assessments, inspections, and testing processes.
  • Monitor supplier quality metrics, defect rates, and performance trends while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct supplier audits to verify compliance with quality standards, manufacturing policies, and industry requirements.
  • Develop supplier inspection, testing, validation, and evaluation processes.
  • Support suppliers with process improvements, quality assurance planning, process controls, and performance enhancement activities.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to resolve supplier-related issues.
  • Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), New Source Introduction (NSI), New Part Introduction (NPI), and New Technology Introduction (NTI) activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or another technical engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (Master’s degree may be considered with 3+ years of experience).
  • Experience supporting manufacturing environments involving complex engineered components.
  • Strong supplier quality, supplier development, and manufacturing process experience.
  • Experience working with both light and heavy fabrication suppliers.
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, NSI, NPI, and NTI methodologies.
  • Experience evaluating supplier capabilities, manufacturing processes, and quality systems.
