Supplier Development Engineer III
Mossville, IL (On-Site)
12-Month Contract
First Shift | Flexible Hours (Typically 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
Pay: $55-$59/hr

We are seeking an experienced Supplier Development Engineer III to support supplier quality, manufacturing excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives within a global supply network. This role is ideal for a quality-focused engineering professional with strong supplier management experience, expertise in APQP and PPAP processes, and a passion for driving operational excellence across manufacturing organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical advisor for assigned suppliers, ensuring quality, cost, delivery, and manufacturing performance objectives are achieved.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments, including Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM) evaluations.
  • Lead supplier development efforts through implementation of APQP, PPAP, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process control methodologies.
  • Review and approve supplier quality documentation including Process FMEAs, Control Plans, Gage R&R studies, and corrective action plans.
  • Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities, production readiness, capacity planning, and process effectiveness.
  • Monitor supplier adherence to process change controls and quality standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and supplier teams to resolve quality issues and improve supplier performance.
  • Support new supplier qualification, supplier certification programs, and supplier performance management activities.
  • Drive root cause investigations and validation of permanent corrective actions through structured problem-solving methods.
  • Participate in concurrent product and process development activities, new product introductions, and process improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline and 5-7 years of relevant experience.
    • Associate degree with 10+ years of experience will also be considered.
    • Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience will also be considered.
  • Strong experience working directly with suppliers in manufacturing, quality, supplier quality, supplier development, or related engineering functions.
  • Experience with:
    • APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)
    • PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
    • Root Cause Analysis
    • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
    • Print Reading and Manufacturing Drawings
    • Supplier Auditing and Quality Systems
    • Excel-based Data Analysis
    • ETQ systems (PPAP, NCM, PCM, Deviations)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
  • Procurement or Supply Chain knowledge
  • Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) experience
  • Experience supporting supplier certification and quality management systems
