Overview
Seeking a hands-on Systems Engineer to support testing and validation of autonomous vehicle systems. This role focuses heavily on real-world, on-machine testing of large equipment, along with data analysis and collaboration with software engineering teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design and execute test and validation plans for autonomous vehicle systems
- Perform hands-on testing directly on large equipment (not simulation-only)
- Collect and analyze test data to evaluate system performance and behavior
- Troubleshoot issues across mechanical, electrical, and software systems
- Document findings and communicate results to engineering teams
- Work directly with software developers to diagnose issues and improve system functionality
Work Breakdown
- ~50% hands-on testing on equipment
- ~50% data analysis, reporting, and engineering collaboration
What You Need
- 5+ years (MS) or 7–8 years (BS) in:
- Test and validation engineering
- Systems engineering
- Vehicle systems, controls, or equipment-based environments
- Strong troubleshooting experience in complex systems (mechanical + electrical + software interaction)
- Hands-on experience working directly with physical equipment (not purely HIL/SIL or simulation)
- Ability to clearly communicate technical issues and findings
- Comfortable working in outdoor environments and climbing on/off large equipment
Preferred Background
- Experience with large machinery or heavy equipment
- Exposure to autonomous systems (perception, planning, positioning)
- CANape, Vector, or similar data/logging tools
- Linux or Ubuntu environments
- Ability to read or interpret electrical schematics
What Makes This Role Different
- Heavy emphasis on real-world validation vs. lab or simulation work
- Direct interaction with large autonomous machines
- Strong mix of field testing + data analysis + software collaboration
