Controls Engineer (Systems Engineer – Controls)
Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Controls Engineer to support manufacturing operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automation and control systems within a plant environment.

- Location: Sterling Heights, MI (Onsite)
- Shift Time: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (Overtime required)
- Pay Rate: $46/hr with benefits
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot PLCs, robotics, and automated manufacturing equipment
- Lead root cause analysis and resolve equipment performance issues
- Program, modify, and maintain PLCs and control systems
- Support new equipment installations and engineering changes
- Monitor system performance using plant systems
- Maintain program backups for automation and machinery
- Train and support maintenance and production personnel
- Collaborate with maintenance teams, vendors, and engineers
- Assist with safety reviews and risk assessments
Required / Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of controls or automation engineering experience
- Strong PLC experience (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Rexroth)
- Experience with robotics and automated systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience in a manufacturing/plant environment
- High School Diploma or GED
- Microsoft Office proficiency
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience
- Experience with 8D / 5-Why problem solving
- Siemens Step 7 or TIA Portal experience
- Fanuc controls experience
- Familiarity with UL508A and NFPA79 standards
