Job Summary
As a Mechanical System Engineer supporting CAT electronics service tools, you will play a pivotal role in managing and designing databases that support engine servicing applications. This unique role requires a blend of database management expertise and engineering sensibilities. You will work closely with application data for each release, ensuring calibration data accuracy, packaging data for application compatibility, and supporting simulation tools used for user training. The position demands a high degree of detail orientation, critical thinking, and effective communication to ensure repeatable, error-free processes and accurate data management.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and manage databases for CAT product applications.
- Process and validate calibration and configuration data for software releases.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity through detailed validation and error resolution.
- Package and prepare data for integration with simulation and training tools.
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers to support application data needs.
- Document changes and processes thoroughly in tracking systems.
- Support internal process tools and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate effectively in written and verbal form to ensure clarity and traceability.
Years of Experience and Education
- 5–7 years of experience in data engineering, database management, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
Skills Required
- Strong experience with Microsoft Access, especially the Query Designer (non-negotiable).
- Detail-oriented approach to data entry and application management (non-negotiable).
- Critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills (non-negotiable).
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities (non-negotiable).
- Proficiency in SQL and data validation techniques.
- Working knowledge of a high-level programming language (e.g., C#, C++, VB.Net, Java, Rust).
- Familiarity with Excel macros and formulas.
- Desired: Python, Power BI or other data visualization tools.
