Lead Information Technologist (Configuration Management Administrator/System Security Manager)
Epitec is seeking a/an Lead Information Technologist (Configuration Management Administrator) to support a higher education institution in Rhode Island. This position is responsible for managing desktop configuration, software deployment, systems administration, automation, and technical support initiatives across enterprise Windows and Mac environments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with SCCM, MDT, JAMF, Active Directory, Group Policy, and higher education technology environments.

- Schedule: Must work within business hours of 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday-Friday
- Work Arrangement: Prefer local candidates for hybrid work; open to remote candidates
- Duration: Long-term contract
- Pay Range: $56-$60/hr

Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Microsoft SCCM, MDT, JAMF, and desktop deployment environments
- Create and manage Active Directory Group Policies for Windows endpoints
- Deploy Windows and Office security updates, application packages, and software remotely
- Create scripts and automation solutions for desktop configuration management
- Configure and maintain Windows deployment environments using Group Policy, SYSPREP, and related tools
- Support VMware environments, virtual machines, and desktop virtualization solutions
- Assist with computer lab design, setup, imaging, and ongoing support
- Develop technical documentation, user guides, workflows, and operational procedures
- Monitor, analyze, and report on operational data to ensure compliance with established standards
- Participate in incident response activities and provide advanced technical support
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field required; OR Associate’s Degree with two years of relevant IT experience
- Previous experience in a higher education environment required
- Experience operating and maintaining Microsoft MDT & SCCM and/or MacOS & JAMF environments
- Experience customizing Windows deployments using Group Policy, SYSPREP, and related utilities
- Working knowledge of Active Directory
- Working knowledge of IPv4 networking
- Experience managing multiple assignments independently while collaborating within a team environment
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to support faculty, staff, students, and administrators
- VMware vCenter and VMware ESXi experience preferred
