Vehicle Software Integration Test Engineer
Location: Dearborn, MI (Fully Onsite)

Overview:

  • We are seeking a Vehicle Software Integration Test Engineer to support the validation and quality testing of next-generation automotive Human Machine Interface (HMI), User Experience (UX), and User Interface (UI) systems. This role combines hands-on vehicle testing, software integration, debugging, and validation activities to ensure infotainment and digital cockpit features function as intended throughout the development lifecycle.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working in automotive software testing, embedded systems, vehicle integration, and CAN network communications. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work across hardware and software domains in a fast-paced product development environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform setup, configuration, and validation testing of HMI, UX, and UI features on vehicles and test development kits (TDKs)
  • Support software and hardware integration efforts by ensuring correct software levels are flashed and required configurations are enabled for testing
  • Utilize Android Debug Bridge (ADB) and in-house diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and debug vehicle infotainment and software systems
  • Develop and execute Python scripts to support automation, simulation activities, software downloads, and HMI validation testing
  • Configure, deploy, and monitor CAN signals across vehicle networks using CAN hardware and diagnostic tools
  • Analyze and troubleshoot complex vehicle system issues spanning both hardware and software layers, performing root cause analysis and confirming issue resolution
  • Collaborate with software, systems, validation, and quality teams to support testing initiatives and resolve integration concerns
  • Perform HMI validation testing and document defects, system behavior, and quality concerns
  • Create and maintain software testing methodologies, procedures, and technical documentation
  • Support prototype hardware integration activities, including ECU replacement and wiring harness modifications when required
  • Adapt to changing priorities, evolving test environments, and project requirements within a fast-paced development environment

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience within the automotive industry
  • 3+ years of software testing experience
  • Experience using Android Debug Bridge (ADB) for system debugging or demonstrated ability to quickly learn the tool
  • Strong Python scripting and automation experience
  • Experience with hardware and software integration in embedded or automotive environments
  • Knowledge of CAN bus architecture, CAN analyzers, Vector tools, or similar network monitoring tools
  • Experience performing user acceptance testing and software validation activities
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, understand vehicle communications, and work with electronic control units (ECUs)
  • Excellent written documentation, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting HMI, UX, or UI validation within automotive or embedded product environments
  • Understanding of user experience principles and digital interaction design
  • Knowledge of HMI design processes and vehicle infotainment systems
  • Experience working with service-oriented architecture (SOA) communications
  • Experience integrating prototype hardware and modifying wire harnesses for testing purposes
  • Master's Degree in a related technical field

  • This position is fully onsite in Dearborn, Michigan.
