Now Hiring: Exterior Lighting Engineer
Dearborn, MI (Hybrid – 4 Days Onsite)
We're seeking an experienced Exterior Lighting Engineer to join a core engineering team responsible for the development and technical ownership of exterior lighting systems across multiple vehicle programs.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of lighting, electronics, embedded software, systems engineering, and vehicle integration.
What You'll Do
Lead the design, development, validation, and launch of exterior lighting systems including:
- Headlamps
- Taillamps
- CHMSL
- Fog Lamps
- License Plate Lamps
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust vehicle-level lighting systems
Drive technical reviews, system validation, supplier management, and issue resolution
Support:
- Embedded software development and testing
- CAN/LIN communications
- Hardware and PCB design reviews
- DFMEA, DVP&R, SCCAF, and Failure Mode Avoidance activities
- Root cause investigations using 8D and 5 Why methodologies
Utilize tools such as:
- CATIA
- Teamcenter
- 3DX
- CAD/CAE analysis tools
Required Qualifications
? Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field
? 5+ years of experience in:
- Automotive lighting development
- Electronics systems
- Embedded software
- Systems engineering
? Experience with:
- Automotive electrical systems
- Software development and testing
- Supplier management
- Vehicle integration and validation
Preferred Qualifications
7+ years of experience
Exterior Lighting Design Release Engineer (DRE) experience
Embedded C/C++
AUTOSAR, CAN, LIN
Functional Safety (ISO 26262)
Lighting electronics and mechatronics
DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP&R
Thermal analysis and GD&T
